Reinforced Concrete Roll (RCR®) from Inland Tarp & Liner is a strong and versatile solution for protecting both spillways and outfalls. RCR® is a geosynthetic cementitious composite mat (GCCM) that unrolls and, when hydrated and cured, forms a strong protective barrier.
Spillways and outfalls are used in situations involving stored water (including ponds and reservoirs), stormwater management, flood control, and water discharge, such as disbursement of wastewater.

RCR-12® for a Long-term Solution in Louisiana
During a five-year period, Pointe Coupee Parish in Louisiana tried multiple ways to solve an erosion issue affecting a wide-mouth drainage ditch, including the application of riprap and erosion-control blankets. Inland Tarp & Liner teamed with infrastructure support company QSM to address this problem.
Stop the widening of a drainage ditch causing termination pond damage and property damage and loss with a permanent and cost-effective solution that would protect the channel and outfall.
This project and RCR-12® aligned due to the product’s ability to handle water flow efficiently and control erosion effectively.
RCR-12® was selected as a long-lasting solution that was more affordable than the considered alternatives of articulated concrete block, traditional concrete, and fabric-formed concrete.
The municipality was able to install RCR-12® for this project instead of outsourcing the installation, representing one way that selecting RCR® can lead to savings for municipal projects.
Quick product deployment helped to reduce the installation timeline.
The installation of 5,400 square feet was completed in three days, including time to prepare the site. After RCR-12® was installed, a sprinkler system was used to hydrate the material.

In what types of climates can RCR® be installed?
RCR® can be applied in and performs well in both cold and hot climates. Humidity, temperature, and sunlight can impact curing times, however. Installation of RCR® is not recommended in below-freezing conditions, and additional water may be required for proper product curing if installed in extreme heat.
After installation, RCR® is resistant to both heat and cold.
Can pieces of RCR® be connected?
Yes. Two pieces of RCR® can be connected. We recommend overlapping the pieces about 6 inches (150mm) and welding the pieces using a torch.
